All Foot Care Visits In all Settings (Residential, Group Home, LTC, Retirement) Include
Facility Foot Care ONLY– All contracted foot care nurses (if required) will complete COVID Rapid Testing if required. If a facility or unit within the facility is in outbreak, all foot care services will be held until the outbreak resolves or as directed by the management team.
Health and Risk Assessment– The provider will ask questions about your health history or medications. This is used to determine your risk factors and for treatment plans.
Assessment of the Foot – skin, nail, circulation, sensation, foot health check.
All Supplies Provided- The providers will use instruments and supplies during care that are sterile (autoclaved) and/or single use (reducing the risk for infection/Public Health best practice)
Disinfection of the Foot– The foot care provider will NOT SOAK feet. They will disinfect the foot before and after care. They do not provide a Pedicure, they provide medical foot care treatment.
Toe and Finger Nail Trimming- Basic finger nail care is provided using new nippers (different than the foot care nippers). Foot care and finger nail care provided is trimming and filing of nails. They will not push back cuticles or trim cuticles, we are not providing a manicure. Nails are trimmed in a manor to prevent complications.
Referral or Recommendations– The foot care provider can provide a referral or recommendation to appropriate care if needed. A RN/RPN or PSW is unable to diagnosis or prescribe. They may refer you to your family doctor or a private care Chiropodist depending on your assessment findings.
Personal Protective Equipment– All contracted foot care providers will wear, gown, gloves, procedural mask and shield/goggles during all foot care procedures.
Vaccination Status– All foot care providers that provide foot care in residential and facilities have had their covid vaccination.
Contracted Foot Care Providers– All foot care providers are independent foot care practitioners and are responsible for their own health and safety and to protect the public.
- Documentation- All contracted providers are required to chart on the care that they provide. All charting will be solely in the possession of the foot care provider providing care and will only be shared with other members of the healthcare team with the clients permission.
Facility Care
- Foot care services will be postponed due to outbreak in the facility and/or government orders and will resume once orders are received by the proper governing sources. Please communicate any changes within the home right away!
- All consent forms or changes to consent forms please place original in resident’s chart. PLEASE EMAIL A SCANNED COPY TO admin@footcareniagara.com
- Unable to scan? We have a digital consent form that can be filled out. Please email us and the link will be sent.
Residential Care
- The appointment time is reserved just for you. Our providers make every effort to be on time for scheduled appointments. In return, we ask that you help us by keeping your scheduled appointments and by notifying us in advance when you are unable to do so. When you give us advanced notice we are able to accommodate other patients.
- A missed appointment is when you fail to show for a scheduled appointment, do not answer the door or phone, not present in room, without notifying the clinic or when you cancel without sufficient notice and or refuse care and the nurse has shown up to your residence.
- If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, contact our clinic immediately (905) 708-9817 or email admin@footcareniagara.com.
- Since appointments are in high demand, your prompt cancellation will give another patient the opportunity to access timely care. Appointments that are not cancelled 24 hrs prior to your scheduled appointment will be subject to a cancellation fee of $20.00 (this includes missed appointments see above). This fee will be added to your next appointment.
- There is no charge for rescheduling or cancelling an appointment if we are notified 24hrs prior.
